“Irony is wasted on the stupid.” – Oscar Wilde
“The ugly and stupid have the best of it in this world. They can sit at their ease and gape at the play. If they know nothing of victory, they are at least spared the knowledge of defeat. They live as we all should live– undisturbed, indifferent, and without disquiet.”
– Oscar Wilde (Dorian Gray)
In other words… as Klausbernd wrote today “Ignorance is bliss”, often qouted in England (correctly quoted: “Where ignorance is bliss, ’tis folly to be wise.” (Thomas Gray)).
Is this really true? Does lack of knowledge bring happiness? Are we more comfortable when we don’t know something? 🙂
Anyway, it’s a perfect introduction to my next post about Susanne Haun’s work. She ist the artist behind Oscar Wilde, I love this portrait of him. Thank you Susanne, for sharing your artwork so generously with us all. Have a great weekend everybody!
